Yesterday, I spent the day in Shreveport where we laid my maternal grandmother to rest in the morning and celebrated her life in the afternoon. She was an amazing woman who put all of herself into her 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren and, of course, her husband of nearly 67 years. Her home and her kitchen were always open and I spent innumerable hours at her house from early childhood through high school. Family was everything to her. She never missed a ball game and no conversation was more interesting to her than to hear about her grandchildren.
After a long battle with Alzheimer's that took away her memory but never took away her kind nature and her sense of humor, on Thursday, July 1st she was healed. I have no doubt that she is busying herself in Heaven making it feel more like home to those around her.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but rejoice with you knowing she's in a better place...
