Go Texan Day

Last week Jackson and Audrey dressed up in their best Texan gear for Go Texan Day, which was celebrated at the day care with a BBQ lunch. Ross got to join them and snap a few photos of JD with one of his good friends, Cooper. I also got a couple of JD and Audrey playing around at home that morning...such a sweet big brother!

President's Day at the Zoo!

We weren't the only ones who decided to spend President's Day at the zoo today. We ran into lots of friends. It was a beautiful day to be outside. It's not too hot here in Houston yet, so we enjoyed every moment!

A lot of the animals were awake while we were there, so Jackson was pretty excited.

Audrey just enjoyed being out and about...especially when we would let her out of the stroller!

Audrey is 11 Months Old!

Yes, another month has already gone by. Audrey is now 11 months old! She started walking early in her 10th month and is practically running now. She knows when she's doing something she's not supposed to, so when she sees one of us coming, she takes off in the other direction. I wonder where she learned that...Jackson perhaps? Some of her favorite, mischievous activities are splashing in Bailey's water bowl, chewing on anything she finds, and climbing the stairs.

Audrey

Audrey now has 7 teeth, and she knows how to use them! She has gone down to three bottles a day and is eating table foods really well. She likes to chew on anything and everything, which has recently turned into biting people. We're working on breaking that habit, but just like her brother, she thinks it's funny!

Audrey

Quiet is not a word I would use to describe Audrey anymore. She is very vocal and seems to be on the verge of learning a few words. She still loves to watch and learn, but when she's ready, she lets you know!

Audrey

Her personality is really starting to show, and we can tell she's going to be a lot of fun!

There are a few more pictures of Audrey dressed up for Valentine's Day in the album. Thanks for the adorable dress, Mom!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Since we chose to have Christmas at home this year, we missed out on some time with our extended families. To make up for that we're hoping to find other ways to have some good, quality time with them. Last weekend I got to have a girls' weekend with two of my cousins. Tiffany lives in New Orleans and recently renovated a house in Uptown, so Meg flew to Houston and rode with me to Tiff's new place Thursday night. Tiff was actually in Nashville until Friday night, so she left us with some great recommendations (written on her chalkboard wall)!

We spent most of the day Friday working from Tiff's place, but we did venture out for our meals. There were lots of amazing places within walking distance, which is unheard of where we live in Houston. It was great!

Friday night a friend of ours from LA Tech, Ashley, joined us, and we had dinner at a fun little tapas restaurant before making our way to a concert at Tipatina's thanks to one of Tiffany's local friends. We stayed until the band was done, so needless to say, we had a good time.

Saturday was pretty low key. I ran some errands with Tiff while Meg met up with a couple of our LA Tech friends to get their packets for the Rock N Roll Marathon the next day...that's right, Meg ran a half marathon while we were there, which is true to her "I can do anything" style! We met up with Meg, Ashley, and Julie for lunch and then wandered around the French Quarter for a while. Saturday evening we caught up with another LA Tech grad and friend of Tiff's for dinner at a wine bar before turning in early so Meg could get some rest for the big race.

Tiffany and I stood along the race route near one of the mile marker bands to cheer on Meg when she ran by. Then I hopped in the car and headed back home to my wonderful family.

Ross is such an amazing husband and dad. I'm so grateful to have been able to go on this trip to spend a little quality time with my cousins, but I was even more grateful to see his smiling face when I got home!

Ross' parents came down to visit while I was gone, so he had a little help and also got to spend some quality time with family.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a single picture over the weekend, but I'll follow up with a post on Audrey with some pictures soon!

Baby Zenter's Shower

Yesterday my friend, Pam, and I hosted a shower for Sara. She and her husband, Stephen, are expecting a baby boy in 5 short weeks!

They are decorating with blue, green, and brown, and have a space theme, which means our shower was space themed too. We had lots of fun decorating for this shower. Pam found a perfect invitation, and everything "took off" from there.

Rocket Invitation

Jackson got pretty excited about all of the rockets. He helped me bake the cookies, and he colored rockets while I cut them out. He was excited for Christopher to be getting so much fun stuff, but he wanted to "share" all of it.

Here are some pictures of our decorations.

Pam did an awesome job on the diaper cake. It turned out SO cute!

Somehow, I managed to forget to take a picture of the cookies, but they turned out pretty cute too! They were rockets with Christopher's monogram on them.

We played a couple of unusual baby games at this shower, which turned out to be a lot of fun. We played a pictionary style game with playdough where all the words were some type of baby related object, and we played a scrabble type game using baby blocks. Here was the winning team's final set of words.

After games, the guest of honor opened her gifts while we all said "Oooh" and "Ahhh" about how cute everything was.

Sara

It was a fun baby shower. At the end we said thank you to all of her guests with a little something sweet.

Now, we'll just continue the count down and look forward to meeting little Christopher soon!
