Since we chose to have Christmas at home this year, we missed out on some time with our extended families. To make up for that we're hoping to find other ways to have some good, quality time with them. Last weekend I got to have a girls' weekend with two of my cousins. Tiffany lives in New Orleans and recently renovated a house in Uptown, so Meg flew to Houston and rode with me to Tiff's new place Thursday night. Tiff was actually in Nashville until Friday night, so she left us with some great recommendations (written on her chalkboard wall)!
We spent most of the day Friday working from Tiff's place, but we did venture out for our meals. There were lots of amazing places within walking distance, which is unheard of where we live in Houston. It was great!
Friday night a friend of ours from LA Tech, Ashley, joined us, and we had dinner at a fun little tapas restaurant before making our way to a concert at Tipatina's thanks to one of Tiffany's local friends. We stayed until the band was done, so needless to say, we had a good time.
Saturday was pretty low key. I ran some errands with Tiff while Meg met up with a couple of our LA Tech friends to get their packets for the Rock N Roll Marathon the next day...that's right, Meg ran a half marathon while we were there, which is true to her "I can do anything" style! We met up with Meg, Ashley, and Julie for lunch and then wandered around the French Quarter for a while. Saturday evening we caught up with another LA Tech grad and friend of Tiff's for dinner at a wine bar before turning in early so Meg could get some rest for the big race.
Tiffany and I stood along the race route near one of the mile marker bands to cheer on Meg when she ran by. Then I hopped in the car and headed back home to my wonderful family.
Ross is such an amazing husband and dad. I'm so grateful to have been able to go on this trip to spend a little quality time with my cousins, but I was even more grateful to see his smiling face when I got home!
Ross' parents came down to visit while I was gone, so he had a little help and also got to spend some quality time with family.
Unfortunately, I didn't take a single picture over the weekend, but I'll follow up with a post on Audrey with some pictures soon!
